White-label tax and lending infrastructure

Make 1099 earners safe to lend to.

Sunshine sets aside tax for self-employed individuals as they earn it, pays the IRS on time, and gives your bank a live record that their taxes are covered.

What Sunshine by Miraris does

Tax and underwriting tools for 1099 earners, offered through banks.

The problem

Banks can't see what 1099 earners owe the IRS.

No employer withholds tax for self-employed people. What they owe builds up quietly between quarterly deadlines, and lenders have no reliable way to see it.

Hidden tax debt

Unpaid estimated tax competes with loan repayments. Once the IRS assesses it, it can become a federal tax lien and lead to levies on wages and bank accounts.

Income that's hard to verify

1099 income is spread across clients and platforms like Uber, DoorDash and Upwork. Underwriting it takes manual work, so banks decline or overprice.

Customers who leave

Fintech apps such as Found now offer self-employed people tax set-asides and in-app tax payments. Customers who move take their deposits and lending relationship with them.

How it works

From hidden risk to a borrower you can approve.

Screen

Sunshine finds 1099 earners in your deposit base and estimates the tax they haven't set aside.

Bank

Embed

You offer Sunshine inside your app under your brand. Customers connect their accounts and income sources.

Customer opts in

Set aside

Tax is moved into a dedicated Tax Vault as income arrives, and quarterly IRS payments are made on time.

Automatic

Certify

Once taxes are covered, Sunshine serves a live Decision Packet through an API your underwriting can query.

Live API

Lend

You make pre-approved personal or auto loan offers to customers who were previously too risky to price.

Bank
For banks

Lend to self-employed customers you already have.

Many of your depositors earn 1099 income. Sunshine shows you who they are, keeps their taxes covered, and gives your underwriting proof of it.

See the risk

A dashboard of customers with 1099 income and the unpaid tax behind them, before anyone is contacted.

Keep the relationship

Sunshine runs inside your app under your brand, so self-employed customers have a reason to stay.

Lend with proof

The Decision Packet API tells your underwriting at origination whether a borrower's taxes are covered.

Who holds the customer's money?

Tax set aside in the Vault will be held at a partner bank, in an account for the customer's benefit. Miraris is not a bank and does not hold customer funds. We are selecting a partner bank now.

Does Miraris make credit decisions?

No. Your bank keeps its credit policy and makes every decision. Sunshine supplies a live check of whether taxes are covered, with the income and payment record behind it.

How does it fit into our systems?

Customers use Sunshine inside your app. Your underwriting queries the Decision Packet through an API. Customers connect their accounts with consent through Plaid.

What data does screening use?

Deposit data you share with us under a service provider agreement. Customers only join Sunshine by opting in.

What would a pilot look like?

We screen a sample of your deposit base and offer Sunshine to a group of customers with 1099 income. We agree up front on the measures that matter to you: sign-ups, tax set aside and loan applications.

How is it priced?

An annual platform license, a per-account screening fee, and per-use fees for Decision Packets and funded loans.

For investors

A large, growing group of earners that banks underserve.

72.9MAmericans worked independently in 20251

15.3%self-employment tax, on top of income tax, that no employer withholds3

The insight

The barrier to lending to 1099 earners is hidden tax debt that lenders can't see. Fix that, and an underserved segment becomes lendable at fair rates.

Business model

Banks pay a platform license, screening fees, Decision Packet fees and a success fee on funded loans. Customers can upgrade to a paid plan and annual filing.

Go to market

Launch Sunshine as a consumer app to build a base of active users and real tax records, then bring that data to regional banks for pilots.

Where we are

A working demo of the customer app, conversations with regional banks, and a seed round of $1.5M to reach the first bank pilot and 5,000 active users.

For 1099 earners

Know what's yours. Never fall behind on tax.

Income and deductions, found for you

Sunshine reads your connected accounts, finds income and deductible expenses, and keeps receipts with them.

Tax set aside as you earn

Move tax into your Vault in one tap, or turn on automation and it happens with every payment you receive.

Paid on time, every quarter

Estimated tax goes to the IRS from your Vault before each due date, and your True Balance shows what's left.

Who is Sunshine for?

Anyone who earns 1099 income: drivers, delivery workers, contractors, consultants, creators and other self-employed individuals.

Is it available today?

Not yet. Sunshine is in development and the demo uses test data. Leave your email below to hear when it launches.

How does it help me borrow?

Every quarter you keep your taxes covered builds your Sunshine Score, which your bank can use to offer you fair loans.

How is this different from Found?

Found offers similar tax tools as its own banking app. Sunshine works through the bank you already use, and turns your tax record into proof your bank can lend on.

See it working.

The demo runs on test bank data. Connect a few accounts, review the income and deductions Sunshine finds, and move tax into the Vault.
